I put a cv carb on my 89 flh with a good 2-1 pipe and it was the best money I have spent, still going strong at 157,000 miles.

Thanks for all the reply,s based on what I have read I think I will try the mikuni carb first off and see how it runs. Not much selection for pipes to fit this bike.

I'd check with a good harley builder (John at MIA Cycles, Scott at Hillside Cycles, bigboyzheadporting) first but if it were my money I'd buy the CV carb, it'll do everything the Mikuni will do on a stock engine but it won't be quite as snappy, put a pipe on it, EV27 and maybe mill the heads for compression bump. Might just re ring while you're in there but you'll notice a big boost in performance just like this... Save the Mikuni money and spend it on an ignition upgrade.

I'm doing similar mods to my FXRS this winter. I hope my rings are good cause then I'll just do the cam, have the heads ported and milled and run it for 50K or so...

I had a 92 Ultra classic with around 50,000 on it. It had an SnS G and the bike always idled a little rough and also surged some at hiway speeds.I bought a new SnS E from a guy on ebay and the bike ran better than ever. The rocker boxes leaked a bit so I changed them with Cometic and everything was fine.Didn't have to remove the tank either. With only 19,000 on yours, you shouldn't have to spend much money getting it to run right,but....the thought of a new cam, adjustable push rods, lifters, etc does sound sweet though, doesn't it!

Ordered a Mikuni carb but the only pipes I found were cycle shack. I heard the chrome is not the best.
