Agreed! Then fit one of these Quick Disconnect Fuel Line Coupler, which I mentioned earlier, before refilling the tanks.

Finally got around to draining the gas tank (purchased and powdercoated items were just received) due to the carb before full of gunk. I am not sure if it was due to the painter not properly covering the gas tank hole or if the sealer on the inside was not done properly.

I did see some flakes of gunk in the gas...glad the guy who re-jetted my carb mentioned it to me.

** My new question is:

How do I ensure that the gas tank is clear of all gunk inside before refilling?

Default Gas tank alignment with steering column

I removed the gas tank from a 1996 FLHR to clean it out and I can't seem to get it in a straight line with the steering column now. I did not notice if it was out of alignment before but it is off center now. I have had in on and off a couple of times to try to readjust but can't see where the issue is that is causing it to not lign up. Any thoughts? I don't believe I mis placed a spacer in the process and I don't see how there would be clearance for one anyway. It does appear that on the right side of the bike there is a tube that comes out from the frame that the bolt slides through and it is longer on the right than the left. It does not appear to slide back and forth.
