I'm looking at bidding on a 1997 Heritage Springer at a local auction next weekend. It needs a bit of work, but nothing major.....Anyway, just wanted to make sure of one thing.....This is an EVO correct?

Yes, it is. Softails had the Evo engine through the 1999 model year.
Also, make sure its cheap. Our beloved Evo's are going for peanuts these days and for whatever reason that I will never comprehend, the Springers go for the least of the Softail line. They are of course my favorite, but they sell for cheap on the open Market. Try to steal the thing!
80 inch evo 2, check to see if the cam bearing was replaced with a torrington. The original bearings have been known to implode an wreak havoc on the motor.

You've got great taste in bikes. Would love to pick up a Heritage Springer some day...
I've got 2003 Roadking so don't know a lot about the evo's...so I appreciate you guys giving me some feed back. IMO In great condition these Springers are the best looking Harley's ever. I'll have to steal this one cheap though.....It'll need a bit of cosmetic work....saddle bags need help, windshield has groove, fishtails have been replaced etc....It did fire right up though when the starer was hit and sounded real good.....I'll let you know next weekend if I'm a new "Springer" owner or not....
Ohhhhhh the sweet sound of an evo. If you end up getting it, please don't share the secret of how great those engines are. Heritage Springers are good looking reliable machines. Good luck with bartering.
I have watched a local dealer in used bikes and it seems the 97 brings some big bucks in Florida....low milage (red/white combo) one's go for 12k and up....Just love to own one but not at that price.
Yea, I did a bit of research and the top of the line ones, seem to be going from $9K - $12K...........this one is quite a ways from there. But...........if I can get it right, I'll put some $$ into it and have a new toy....
