I would install off the battery with an inline fuse about 2 amps above the total draw of the spots; i.e. 4amp + 4amp = 8amps total so 10 amp inline fuse. Use a nice heavy guage wire like a #12 or so also. You should have a 38 amp charging system on that bike so unless you have alot of other electrical add ons you should be fine with the spots. The LED's are low amp draw anyway which I think is part of the attraction. Good luck!!

I'm with Tactical on this. I added conventional spots last winter, along with a relay plus in-line fuse. Mine have a higher draw than yours, but it is a good idea to use a relay when adding accessories. Your spots switch operates the relay, which sends power direct to them from the battery, instead of via the switch.

Inline DC ammeter. Or use a shunt type.

The bulbs will be rated on the package i.e. 50 watt. Watts divided by volts = amps so 50 watts/12v = 4amps per spot x 2 = 8 amps total so use a 10 amp inline fuse.

A relay may or may not be necessary with a good quality toggle switch. It's just something else to fail and mount, etc. I have my 8 amps worth of spots wired right into the OEM spotlamp toggle switch just like the factory had it wired. I went from 20 standard ( dim) watt to 50 watt halogen ( very bright) spotlamp bulbs, have my wire running from the power side of my ignition circuit breaker so as not to load that breaker and have an inline, modern type "glass" plug in fuse you see in cars. I'm using a 10 amp fuse for the 8 amps of spotlamps. Put an 8 amp fuse in at first and it blew on a hot day after a few hours. The 10 amper has been fine.
