If the petcock screen is good enough, why do we see so many posts and threads here about junk in the carb bowls? I've seen a number of different screens on the petcock, the OEM plastic ones are pretty fine but some of the aftermarket ones are very course.
I have the original style plastic screen and I still find a little residue in my float bowl, tanks are rust free. Next time I have things apart I'll probably put a small filter inline, I really can't see any harm in having one.

I installed my inline filter after seeing particles in my S&S E float bowl. Maybe the others have super clean fuel-- or I got some bad fuel at that time. Don't know- don't care- - it stays in place and I clean it once a year...
