Default starter bushing change

Hi , I've got an 89 flh. Does anyone know if I can change the bushing in the inner primary that the starter jack shaft turns in without removing the inner primary?
How's that done?

don't think so... that baby needs to be pressed out, so removing the inner primary is necessary

why are you replacing it, anyway? ...damaged?

the starter attempts to engage but catches or binds . a little push on the starter ,or is the solinoid ,will take care of it . I had another starter to swap out but still catches. I found a little never seize outside the rear seal on the jack shaft buys me a number of goood starts

yah, you could have damaged it with all the false starts... especially if the jackshaft was jacked while attempting to make the grab

agree with you about the never seize
