On an Evo Big Twin rocker cover gasket (for the top cover), does the flat side of the Cometic gasket face up with the grooved side down? Or does it matter? Thanks.
I bought a gasket set at the dealer and instead of him giving me the front and the back,he gave me 2 of the same kind for the back. Instead of driving 40 mi. back to the dealer to swap it out,I flipped one of them and put it on the front. I'm not saying it was the right thing to do but it didn't leak.
I got a new Evo crate motor and the rocker cover started leaking after 200 miles. I pulled the cover and the factory gasket was grooved side down. I replaced with Cometic, so I called them. They said their gasket will work either way. Just makes me wonder why one side is grooved if it doesnt matter.
BTW, anyone recall what the break-in is for a new Evo? RPM and miles?
