This Evo I just bought has an Edelbrock Quik-Silver II. Anyone out there run this carb? I'm used to S&S, Mikuni or Kehnin (sp?) Never seen a Quik-Silver around here (neither has anyone else I've talked to). How are they? Read up on them used on dirt bikes (they can idle laying sideways) and some auto-adjust features but not much for street use.
I only messed with one, found out it wasn't as easy to tune as advertised. I don't know if the V-twin engine/manifold design had anything to do with it or not??
i jetted one here, super sensitive to temperature and elevation changes, i ended up pulling it off, and sold it on ebay so i could buy a cv, wasnt worth the headache and the guy who i did it for is just as happy with his cv.

Mine has no jets, has a flat sided needle. Looked it up and it is described as a jetless carb, auto adjusts for temperature and altitude.
Have not run it yet so I don't know how it's gonna do. Guy I bought the bike from said it was a good carb, I just haven't ever seen one. I ran a S&S Super B on my sporty but just changed it to a Super E Shorty last year so I could run forward controls.

you are correct, no jets, what I meant was u can adjust the accelerator pump and needle, one of the problems I remember, is the bike was never good throughout the rpm range, was either good on bottom while being terrible on top.or vice versa, try it and see how it runs, you may like it,
I really liked the S&Ses. You say the CVs are best for the EVOs? I don't particulary like the throttle on this one, it "ratchets" meaning it clicks 2x when you throttle and then has pull on the cable then when you let off it clicks 1x after cable is out. Almost like about 1/10 of a turn is slack (although cable is tight). My other bike has a S&S and cables and throttle is tight throughout.
well, my own personal opinion, i think the cv is perfect for 80 cubic inch motors turning less than 6k rpm, the smaller bore size makes them much snappier than the mikuni, i think the s&s carb is tractor technology at best, im not a fan, but i will tell you that when you get over creative, you have **** like the edelbrock carb you have now, i guess its all in preference?
I have one. Just a quick silver not a II version. Mine did not have an accel pump. It had a **** on the top of it to raise or lower the main needle if I needed. Really simple carb. I like it.
Mine has the needle adjuster on it and the accelerator pump only kicks in at full open. Downloaded the manual for it yesterday AM. Working on a different prob right now.
