Anyone know the part number for the SE ignition modual that will fit my 94 FXSTC?
Will I need to adjust the timeing when I change it? I'm going to be doing some electrical work and I'll change out the original modual while I'm in there.
Here is what is going on,
Problem#1 Weak spark, I compared the cold cranking spark of my 99 to this 94, same plugs and wires, the 94 was much weaker. The 94 runs great but is a bear to get started on cold days, I know this is common but the 99 fires right up. Coil and Wires are new on the 94.
Problem#2 Rear light is dim, I have not done any trouble shooting yet but the tail light is dim and also the rear brake. The front brake is very bright.
I've been ignoring this for 2 years and the PO did some really shotty wiring, miles of black tape and etc.. I'm thinking that I have a low voltage issue going to the rear light and I'm wondering if I also might have low voltage going to the ignition, that causes problem #1..He had some sort of black box mounted in by the battery that I removed and doing that fixed up some issues with the front blinkers. This is gonna be "fun"...
Thanks for the replies, I also found the info on nightrider's site. Even used, those ignition moduals are bringing good money, just saw one close on ebay for 167.00.
My low voltage issue to the rear light is looking like the rear brake switch. Both the front and rear lights are the same voltage when activated but the rear light is dim. If I just jump the wires on the rear switch both lights are the same. Stange part is the harder I push on the rear brake pedal, the brighter the stop light gets..wierd!
I have switched out my stock module for a S/E unit. I have my stocker just collecting dust. I know that it works perfectly and has zero issues. If you are wanting just to replace yours with a stock unit, its yours. I totally get if you want the better S/E unit, as did I, just wanted to make the offer. Mine is a 96 Dyna, I can only "assume" it will work on your 94 Softail.

This module has the 8 pin connector, and I believe he needs the older style 7 pin.
Like you, I have the old stock unit in the garage somewhere.
If you need it, it's yours....just let me know, and I'll see if I can find it.
