EVO's also have a personality that those electronically challenged bikes don't have.
That's what's attracting me to them so much. I took a new Fat Boy out last week and it just seemed too smooth and refined. I wanted it to shake my butt off. Don't get me wrong the power delivery was great but it just didn't have the Harley Davidson soul that I keep hearing about. If anything my Shadow has more "feel". The balanced motor was just too, well, balanced!
When I got back to the dealer there was a guy with a 96 heritage. I jumped on his bike and immediately it felt like it was alive.
Don't mean I'm discounting a Twinkie at this point but what with all of the cam shoe problems and the rather underwhelming experience of them so far the Evo seems like a much better choice for me. Not to mention a little more unique and more of a classic. Maybe as I look at more HD's I'll form a different view.
I took a 110ci FXDSE2 Dyna CVO out today. Now that did have the Harley soul!!
Finding parts Evos isn't a problem as long as its not a bike they only built for a year or two and changed the bike. I've owned a bikes older and still have no problems finding parts and now my bike is a custom built bike. Custom softail frame, Shovelhead engine, etc.... And I'm still able to find parts I can use. Just have to know your bike and know what your looking for and you can usually find it.
Very few parts I need are purchased from the dealer, just too many folks out there looking to fill the need. As someone mentioned, pipes are a different story.
V-Twins & Bowties
Just saying that, to use the quality sights for info, then go somewhere else to buy your parts for less. Because I've found, the cheaper sights don't give you all the info on older year bikes. And the parts will fit.
