I am looking for another Harley, found a 1996 FLSTN Nostalgia, very low 10,000km mileage, showroom condition just like a brand new bike, it needs 2 new tires for sure, other than that in great shape, the seller is asking $10000 cad for it, what do you think? Another question, he fires up the bike, as soon as the motor runs, there is gas coming out from the carb vent hose, is the carb float bowl flooding? When I rev it up, the engine sputters a bit as well, don't know what causes that, it could be carb flooding I guess.
I only like that 1996 because limited production and lovely 2 tone green/grey color, 10,000km/6,000miles not even broken in, sure I can find something newer for 10 grand but that's not what I want.

Gotcha! guess thats why I like my 98,95th anniversary, numbered Road King!
My 95 flstn I paid $9500 for her with over 18k miles, Feb 09, and sold her for $9,000 26k miles, just this last Jan, sad but it's all good. Gas coming out the carb and sputtering sounds like maybe it might need to have the carb cleaned up some with my very limited knowledge of carbs either something is not closing or regulating the flow of gas or air. If you have to pay the full asking price tell them you want the carb cleaned or rebuilt, with tyres and carb work your looking $700.00 or more to get her running spot on.
Nice looking bike but.....10 grand seems a bit high...I think for that kinda money, you could go several years newer????
I am sure prices are a little different in Canada...seems like you could talk him down a little for the carb problem...which is almost surely the needle and seat. The reason it only does it with the motor running is the vacuum petcock. The biggest thing I would look at is inside the gas tank...it is not uncommon for low mileage bikes to have rust problems in the tank from sitting. Rusted tanks will cause the carb problem...and are a lot more expensive to fix than a minor carb problem.
Oh Yeah '96 Nostalgia ... a Heritage with Fat Boy bags and seat ...... and exclusive paint with a N designation on the Vin #. I love mine from the first time I seen it..... Paid way too much for it I'm sure. 1996 was at the peak of the "supply demand" marketing strategy that basically gave the dealers the chance to ask whatever they wanted for the bikes .... and got it, with people on waiting lists to buy them!! Oh well, mine's paid for and I'll never get the 18 grand plus intrest I paid for it but I don't care. Last year for the FLSTN with the Evo, carberated and no computer..... love it ..
Mike-
128auto, tell the dealer you will buy it for asking price when he puts tires on and gives it a complete service, incl any repairs (carb). Remember what Tom said about the tank too!
Sounds like a very kool low mileage Evo. 10K isn't bad, if in top shape!
Good luck, keep us posted.
