I just got done doing a huge engine build on my 93 fatboy evo. i changed the compression to 10:2:1. i had to put compression releases on the heads so i will start eaiser. the only down fall is some times the compression will knock the carb off the bike? i have a new rubber bezzil that goes on the end of the manifold that holds the carb on, but it seems like it is too big and is assisting in the falling off of the carb.
is there a bracket i can buy that will hold the carb to the bike better? how can i stop this from happening?
Nah mate, compression isn't doing that, the carby should be held on by the back plate and the breathers...the Ironhead boys are masters at making brackets to hold the CV in but in your case I think you have bits missing from the aircleaner set up...if your set up isn't attached to the heads then its time to get the drill and some steel strip out.
Yeah, what Spanner said. Your carb should be held in place by an air cleaner backing plate that mounts to the throat of the carb with 3 studs and then mounts to the breather bolts on the heads. If your carb is just stuck onto the manifold with the compliance fitting, well, something ain't right. Who did the rebuild, you or a mechanic?
I did the rebuild last year I replaced the stock breather assembly with a different one and I did not have a problem I guess ill have to machine some kind of a plate yo hold it on
