Just got back from parts sdept. All they had was Lucas Motorcycle 20w50 so I will try that. (It's labeled for motor, tranny and primary) But I run type F in my primary.
1987 5 Speed trans. That's what the Factory manual says. Been putting 1 pint in since 1987 with no problems. Don't know what your 93 holds. Newer ones must hold more.
im using redline trans fluid with shock proof. alittle expensive and i have to order it online but it makes it shift alot smoother and cuts down the 2 to 1 clunk.... and its a cool color... haha

Yup, something changed. 1983 manual states: "Fill with approximately 20-24oz or until lubricant is at the full mark on the dipstick, with the motorcycle upright and level and the dipstick dipped, not screwed, into the fill hole." Every one I've done has always taken about 24oz, but I can't remember working on a 5 speed as old as yours. I do know that the 4 speeds took a pint.
The dealer comment was joking and not aimed at you, so don't take offense. (Still need to get that sarcastic font installed.) I thought it was funny that the dealer that didn't fill my tranny and cost me a tear down was in northern Ohio same as you.
No offense taken. I usually don't post something without checking it first. Got to wonder if the mech who did your bike here assumed it only took a pint? When I bought my bike new another customer warned me about some of the mechanics. He called them "Chip" and "Nick". One melted my gas tank door cover with a hot drill right in front of me and tried to denied it. After that I never trusted any of them. I would always check any of the mechanics work. Once the warranty was over so were they.
It just sucks that you have to suffer because of someone's incompetence. There seems to be a lot of that ,at least around here. Dealerships don't want to pay anyone with experience. One dealership here fired everyone and hired kids.
I would love to check out Aruba. Don't see why some people got to insult you.
Hehehe. Yea I suck but I do it while riding my bike and driving my boat all year long with turquoise waters all around me. . .
Good for you man. Enjoy what you have earned. We are looking at homes in FL now. Not Aruba but it will do....This is why I drive such a cheap a$$ bike and truck. Got to get ready for the beach/boat house.
I am sorry if you took that as an insult. I was actually giving him a hard time by joking. That is what sucks about the internet I guess. You never can tell what people mean.
I kinda figured that. Gotta bust some ***** sometimes. Everyone on here ( At least the EVO page) is pretty cool. Some people on the General are kind of a$$holes at times.
