Just introducing myself. Just bought a 1997 Road King, 27,000 miles, fuel injection, decked out in chrome, removable tour pack, Vance and Hines pipes, pullback bars, I believe the color is Victory Red. I've owned two Sportsters and a 2005 Ultra so this is my first big twin EVO. Love it so far. My wife and I are pretty light so it has enough power for me and if I'm not mistaken the engine seems "quieter" to me??
Couple questions for you guys. What is a source for an aftermarket Tappet Screen Plug that has an allen head instead of the stock 'flat blade screwdriver" head? Also, it has the Screamin Eagle (K&N) filter and the Vance and Hines pipes but the PO said the dealership told him many years ago that it wasn't necessary to reprogram the ECM so it wasn't done. Should I have it done or let it be? Thanks for any help. Hope to post a picture soon.
If it's running a stage one without altering the fuel injection, it's probably running leaner than you would like. If it runs good, you might want to leave it alone. Then again, if it's a little lean, you motor will like you more if you richen it up a bit.

Welcome to the wonderful world of EVO's Chuck!! Pictures?
Two Alaskan Evos? Enough for an HDF Evo rally! Welcome aboard Chuck, from the UK.
Yeah, Chuck is actually a close friend of mine and brother in Christ! We've ridden many miles together over the years. But since my EVO looks like THIS
For the next year or so I won't be logging in too many EVO miles with him.
BUT I do still get my 2 wheel fix, just a different style! My 88 Honda XR600R
And the best thing is it's street legal.
Welcome. I thought the riding season was short in Ohio. It's gotta be really short in Alaska.
Naw, it's really not that bad. Riding season starts next Tuesday and ends Sunday night. People up there really have gotten good at taking advantage of all the nice weather.
All seriousness aside, to the O/P, it sounds like a cool motorcycle.
