ditto on the loose cable (I do not bolt my seat on anymore"lazy")
had a similar starting issue on the fatty turned out one of my breaker had some rust/corrosion so I clean it up and no more issue
good luck I hope you find an easy solution

You checked both sides of breaker to ground?

Loose positive it was. Figured it out last night. Take seat off and while going thru system the cable would reseat then put seat back on and sit down to start it would pull it loose just enough. Positive is a side mount with just enough cable. Wouldnt Harley think to use a longer cable and top mount so the seat would hold it in place . I cant believe I spent 5 hours tracking down a loose battery connection.

Glad you got it fixed John! Now jump over to the Florida Crew Section and introduce yourself. You need to join us on a ride sometime and better yet our annual get together is in Ocala the second week of Nov.

Every oil change I make it a point to check and clean(if needed) my battery cables. I have the L brackets on my battery and found the positive loosen up twice too. Its an old habit from owning 3 Buells.

Like MJ said these do help keep the battery bolts tight.

Put star washers on and backed it up with zip ties
