I like to wrench, and when I got my Evo started to restore it. Started with every thing new on charging system, primary, and brakes. Cam & lifters, wheel bearings, front forks. When I get to old and Its hard to hold up, I'll pull it in the shop and make it a 3 wheeler.

I HAD a '03 ultra classic before I got my '96 cop bike. It was ok, but the first thing I noticed about it was the heat given off by the motor. When in slow moving traffic your moving around in the seat looking for the best position not to get fried. I put a power commander on it and a big air filter. That's the thing, unless you spend more money on it or set it up on a dyno you won't get any real increase in performance. A canned map will get it running, but the dyno wakes it up. So unless your a computer guru trouble shooting codes will just frustrate you. Don't get me wrong the bike was nice, and after spending big $$$ to straighten it out to make it run like it should, it still didn't have what my '93 or my '96 had. Not to mention Harley can't make a comfortable seat except for the Police air ride seat. I like being able to work on my '96 without hooking it up to a computer or having to take it to the dealer to tell me what the flashing code number means. And when riding with our group, there are lots of twin cam 88's. 96's, and 110's. But my bike gets just as much or more people looking at it and asking about it. 100% stock like it left the factory except for the police lights and siren, a little beat up, but can keep up with the group without throwing codes, or start running on the front cylinder because of the heat management system. There's just something about an Evo that Harley forgot to put into the Twin cams.,,

Got a 95", '06 Streetglide as well as my trusty old '95 EGC. Don't really care for TBW or "parent metal" cam plates on the newer 96" and up motors. My '06 is the last new HD I'll ever buy and I'll never sell the '95 EGC.
I'll probably add a Shovel to the stable sometime soon, though.

I already have a nice little 107" S&S 'evo' thanks! I also know where there is an 'evo' S&S 145" Tribute motor in need of a good home. Now THAT would wake things up around here and put down ANY twincam!

I have both, and there are things I love about both. Cruising down the hiway with my wife, at 70 mph, cruise control set, feet on the hiway pegs, stereo blasting out some classic rock, and knowing I don't have to worry when I travel from sea level to the top of the Rocky Mtns is a very good feeling.

On the other hand, firing up the EVO, listening to that classic Harley rumble, getting the wind in my face and being able to make modifications at will, is also a great feeling.

Wouldn't want it any other way, myself. My 96 c.i. motor is about all the heat I can handle off a motor....... A 103 or a 110, makes no sense to me and my 96 with cams and 2-1 exhaust makes plenty of power to pull any hill, loaded down with luggage.

All of you with an EVO keepum. I've had an 88tc and a 96tc(current) miss my 85 fxrt more than any bike i've ever had. Tried to buy it back several times no luck.

Update 8/10/11 just added a 86 FXWG

I'll keep the white bike and hope to defy age in the future, going on a ride Sat with Shovels and a Pan so I like what I see in the future. Have nothing against the new bikes as I'll help my Twinkee buddies anytime with their bikes.

$2500 in an paid off Evo engine will handle the 103 in a $23,000 Street Glide, trust me on that one but always a bigger dog with the Twinkees lurking out there and after a long day of my riding buddies harassing each other about different era's of bikes, we all ride together.

Had a TC, and it was fine... But the EVO (IMO) is the best engine to come outta HD. However, I have done a big bore on her! I'll ride my Evo tell she goes away im my will!

My Evo is paid for and puts out 100ft/lbs of tq!

If Harley made a liquid cooled road glide I would consider it. Manufactures usually build up current production to introduce a new motor. I guess if they want to stay carb compliant, they will be heading that way soon.
