Bought mine new in 93, no plans to sell at all. Just put on a Super E and loving it!
And if something happened to my bike (stolen) I'd get another evo or a shovel
I am lucky (in many ways), I have a 98 Fatboy and an 06 Street Glide. I didn't buy newer (the 06) due to crank runnout issues. I like both bikes for different reasons. I love my Fatboy and won't part with it. If one had to go, it would be the Street Glide. You won't find an Evo owner who will part with it for good reasons. Easy to work on and maintain. Sounds like a Harley should, not as hot, and the list goes on. The newer bike owners don't get it and won't....
i haven't had my 98 fxdl for too long, but i am impressed with the torque of the evo. my wife rides it primarily and i must say that efi would be nice. the others we ride with just hit start button and she has to pay a little more attention, even when warmed up. ABS would be nice peice of mind for me to have with her too, but we dont really do much long distance riding yet. maybe an upgrade in a couple of years. wont get much for the evo, so may just keep in around.
with the right pipes and fuel management, heat on my 103 flhtk is a non issue. the carbed bike does ride at a more constant throttle - noticably.
i dont think the suspension or handling will be much different new to old - or maybe thats just what i want to believe.
I spent 3 years saving for my EVO and 6 months of looking after I had the money in hand to find the one I wanted; a low mileage 98 RKC garage queen. I might buy another bike (if I can find room in the garage) but the Road King stays.
It would be interesting to see if the MoCo were to bring out as their mid year bike, as they seem to do these days, one of each of their big twin models powered with an Evo engine, not that they will ever do it ,but it would be interesting to see how well they sold,i would definately buy one.

The Moco is popping the new must have bike about as often a hooker changes wigs , getting to be a joke .
