I have a stock 1985 fxst with cycle shack muffler pipes,my problem is with the s&s Carburetor. When the bike is warmed up and ideling when i crack the throttle it hesitates,if I roll the throttle it's fine I would like to get rid of this hesitation when i crack the throttle.the carb has the jets that were installed when i bought the carb,I know the intermitent jet is a .0295 but not sure what the main jet is.Other than this problem the bike seems to run fine.I would like to beable to crack the throttle and have it respond like it should without the hesitation,i have setup the carb just like the instructions say to do,if i crack the throttle with the enricher on it doesn't hesitate i have set the idel and the fuel pump like the instructions say. Thanks for any help
Adjust the accelerator pump. You need more gas. You may also need to back the idle screw out another 1/8th turn. Try the idle screw first. If it doesn't fix it, then put it back and try the pump screw. Only adjust after the bike is fully warmed up, like after riding 10 miles or so.

Good advise, also have a couple of extra spark plugs just in case you foul them.
Go to the S&S web page and download the manual for the carb. It goes over how to tune it very well. Sounds like you're almost there and just need the last little touch up.
Oh, and adjusting the idle mixture screw a bit now and then is pretty standard. I carry "just the right screwdriver" in my tour pack for road trips.

Not unless it is moving...you should never have to adjust it after it is correct. Might want to put some blue loctite on it...haven't adjusted mine in 15 years.
Yep depends on where you live. Here in NC we go from freezing to 100 degree temps during the year so a tweek is common.
Just to verify the pump is working, Take your aircleaner off and look inside the carb throat when you twist the throttle. You should see a substantial spray of fuel.
You can also try small timing tweeks in both directions to see if it improves or not.
Bout ready to give up on this carb and get a different type done every thing everyone has said and adjusted it like s&s says to do but it still stalls, when the bike is warmed up if i crack the throttle real fast the engine will die if i roll the throttle it's fine,if i leave the enricher on and crack th throttle it responds great ,I have check for leaks sprayed wd40 and no leaks this carb has done this from day and it was brand new
If you did all the adjustments outlined above and it didn't help, then maybe you're running your slow speed circuit a little lean. If you're sure the accelerator pump is working right and you adjusted it then the next step may be to go one or two sizes bigger on your slow speed jet.
Yeah, when you say you adjusted it, did you swap jets out? That's part of the adjustment process. It really sounds like that carb was never properly jetted for the bike from day 1.
I suggest an hour's shop time at an indy that knows S&S carbs for some tune time.
