Default New to me Softail with error code "d01clr"

Hey guys! I just picked up a new to me '97 Softail and after coming back from a short 20 mile ride I noticed an error code. It is d01clr. It seems to go away after I get rolling but comes back after I turn the bike off/on. Anyone ever hear of this? I plan on picking up the service manual this week but I was hoping to try and diagnose it sooner. Thanks!

Last time I saw this code it was the wires to the black **** that toggles between Odo, and trip mileages had got trapped between the tank and the console and were shorting out.....worth a look mate as it only cost an inch of insulating tape to fix :-)

Actually, I believe the D01clr means you are at position D01 and there are no trouble codes (clear) for this position. If this is showing all by itself when you turn the bike on, then the reset button or wire is shorted out as Spanners stated. It's acting as if the button is pressed while you are turning the ignition on.

makes perfect sense. the PO replaced the stock tins with Fat Boy tins. so far I've had to re-wire the brake/tail light and the rear turn signals, may as well see whats waiting for me under the console!
Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I'll be spending a lot of time around here

WOW...you guys are pretty good! As soon as I loosened the console and turned on the ignition the error code was gone. I saw the wires that were pinched and re-routed them. Problem solved. Thanks for all the replies!

Just want to say thanks. Had this issue for a while but couldn´t find a clear solution online until I saw your post.
