Default Help Id ing a fairing?

I found this fairing on craiglist pretty local to me in Jax. I cant i.d. the yr myself but think it is a evo era? can anyone else id it? I even asked how many bolts hold windshield on he said 5. If it is one that I can even use the outside on for a backup, I plan to buy. Thanks, my eyes arent what they used to be and cant get him to send another pic

Bill

A clue are the fairing mounted mirrors. They are not early Evo and I don't recall them coming out for late Evos, so I would guess possibly early TC. What colour is it? That should be another clue!

Fairing mounted mirrors, radio cut-out, only two gauges, single headlight, are you sure it's HD??? Is there a part number on it????

I had the mirrors on my 98 Ultra, but the shape of that fairing from the front doesn't look HD. And the early EVO fairings had that horrible through the headlight mounting system that I don't see here either.

Hard to tell in the pic, but... The outer edges, over the hand grip area, doesn't look right, the "lines" look a little too sharp curving down to the headlight, which looks a bit small.

And Stiggy, since the invention of the GearWrench, mounting and dismounting the fairing with the through the headlight thing just takes a few minutes. And we don't have brackets that snap in half on a regular basis, unlike twinkies.

Harley started using the Inner/Outer Fairing with the '86 model year. It is one of the early EVO Inner/Outer Fairing combos. "86-'88 or '89-'95. Starting with the '96 Harley went to four gages from the two gages.

The area that held the speedometer/Tachometer assembly has been covered with a plate to house a radio.
To tell if it is '86-'88 is to look at the square area above the handlebar cover. If it has two holes on either side of a rectangular box, it is for the first years of the Harley Inner/Outer Fairing.
If it is just covers the rectangular opening, it is '89-'95.

You've just stirred the old grey cells! I had a fairing off the Centenary Statue of Liberty Glide (1986?), which was actually the first with four dials (I still have the four guages). You are quite right that all the others around that time had only two.
