My first post here, and it sounds like you got it figured out. I recently put a 34 tooth sprocket on my '98 fatboy (stock was a 32) and it made a HUGE difference in highway cruising. I don't have a tach, put just knowing my bike, I get about 5 more mph in 5th gear; 60mph is like idling, 70 is comfortable and 80 is much more doable than before.
