Hello all , I have a 91 springer with a bobtail fender and tailight thats loose and shakin alot is there a place on the interweb that can show me how to tighten her up ? Thanks to all Vic
Lift up the rear of the bike. Pull rear wheel if the tire's a tight fit or doesn't drop low enough when you lift the rear. Fasteners are at ends of struts on either side of rearward portion of fender (inside). Don't overdo it. Red loctitie helps do the job once.
****NOTE*****
If you don't have a parts manual, hit RonAyers.com . That cat has a fiche collection from hell. Any make and just about any year. You get the factory part number and the spode at the Harley shop parts counter who only knows what his computer tells him about Twinkies doesn't screw you out of ignorance. You get pretty pictures of exploded assemblies and you learn how things go together without a big hairy guy with a patch you want breathing down your neck just prior to a mandatory rollout. But I digress..... Check this:
I'm thinking "hold 14, tighten 1...hold 13, tighten 7" in this pic from Ron Ayer's website. Now buy something from Ron 'cause I stole his pic for you... 8)
Better yet, trade me your Springer for my '96 Dresser and you'll have a rebuilt bike without the nasty taillight issue.

Thanks that's what I'm taking about, I will look him up and happily pay him for the shots, thanks again, and that trade sounds temping but the springer was my first Harley and it runs better than my 11glider ,this thing always runs while the new ones are in the shop lol
