Hi Guys
I originally posted a few questions over in the tech forum.
I was advised there to move it over here. So here it is:
I've found a custom bike for sale here (Cape Town, South Africa) and I was asking about:
1. The 1340 EVO motor with a 4 speed kick only - I've found out that it was a stock combo in 1984.
2. The frame was described as a 58-84 - I've found out that it is actaully a Santee frame.
3. What is a "cut down primary"?
I'd still like opinions/advice on all of the above please.
Here's a full description:
1340 EVO with 4 speed, kick only. Santee frame. 4" Over fork. Mustang tank. Slash cut drag pipes. Progressive suspension. Oil cooler.
Evo's did not come out until around 88. A 4 speed kicker in that frame was a shovel head before someone played around with it. someone is pissin' on your boots & tellin' you it's raining!
hatch.
BS...Evo's came out in 84 in softails with a 4-speed kick. if you like it and the price is right get it. The "cut down primary" is why it is kick only...you can replace that and have kick and electric start

that is wrong.
the Evo was introduced in the 1984 model year.
the 1984 FXST Softail
the 1985 FXST Softail
the 1985 FXWG Wide Glide
the 1986 FXWG Wide Glide
ALL were produced with the Evo motor, 4 speed, kickstart, electric start.

I'll try to get a pic up soon.
What d'yall think?
Cheers, Drew
The Shovel in my pic is in the Santee 58-84 no rake frame.
Bike sounds cool, but how is it titled?
IDK about South Africa laws and cops, but in US that kind of combo might be a pain in the butt to explain to cops. Make sure you get all documentation.
its not personal.
incorrect information is posted on the net all the time. problem is a lot of people think because they read it somewhere it must be true. then they repeat it, and before long the incorrect info is widely believed to be true.
the way to try to halt that is point out things quickly, and clearly, when they are false.
a lot of people post things they "think", or they "heard", when they really don't know or have no experience.
