Default Blowing Oil

Comming home from work wednesday afternoon I started smelling oil burning. I originaly thought it was a passing car. Nope.. I kept smelling it. So I began to do quick scans while still moving. Down the right side motor by the crankcase is covered with oil. Spweing out all over my bike. Got home and what a mess it made. Pulled the dipstick and just a small spot on the bottom of the stick. From what I can see, it might be a gasket blown somewhere the jugs or pushrod tubes bolt down. Gonna wait for a weekend off to look for it. I degreased the entire bike and put it away. Cant wait to see what im gonna get into with this one. I'll keep ya posted on what I find. Might not be untill after Christmas before I get to it. Working lots of overtime and too close to christmas to spend the money on the bike. Time will tell.

The pushrod tube O rings crumble to dust eventually, my Wide Glide did the same thing.

Newer bikes vent from the top. What year is yours? Push rod tubes that leak can puke oil huge! If you dont have adjustable push rods, you can buy a set & cut your old push rods out with bolt cutters. Than re install the adjustables without pulling the rocker box's.
Hatch.

Its my first day off since last sunday. Gonna have a look today. Hope its a quick fix. Its a '96 EVO. Dont know if the pushrods are the adjustable ones. Havent been into the motor since I rebuilt the bike. It ran good when bought so nothing more than a general maintenance was done to it.

Stock are of course solids (non-adjustable) Whoever rebuilt the bike should be able to tell you. I just replaced mine in the '97 Evo with the adjustables. Might as well through a EV27 cam in while you are at it !

Right on the money Dr Hess! The front one was the worse. Got them tightened back up and good to go. Still seeps a little so im guessing this spring I'll have to replace some gaskets.
