Default Fork seals?

I am getting pretty close to gathering up all the 2000+ fork sliders, calipers, wheel/disc, and axle for the '98 Ultra. I am planning on doing the project either next month or January....just making sure I have everything needed before the project.

Another item I will be needing are new fork seals.....but which ones? I've never messed with front forks except changing fluid. Thanks

They are cheap. Just go to the dealer and get them.

Ditto what dr. hess said, I've tried forever seals from a catalog and they only lasted one season, this time I went with hd seals and they're still going strong 3 years later, go figure. The forever leak proof seals were more spendy too. They're under warranty but don't care, last time my seals leaked, got all over the front disk and no brakes.

Thru trial and error, Harley seals in all sealing areas are hard to beat, just put them in my forks in the summer.

Thanks all.....I was looking at all sorts of fork seals aftermarket vs. OEM stock. I guess I'll be picking up OEM.

Yeah, in the post Shovelhead (post AMF, really) era, I think the MoCo actually did implement some type of quality improvement program. If something was breaking or leaking, they addressed it and came out with a better gizmo. Prior to that, it seemed to me that they just took delight in selling you another piece of crap that would break, leak or wear out in a few months. The little rubber button things that hold up the battery and oil tank on a FL/FX frame come to mind.

Anyway, a trip to Old Fart Harley Davidson should fix you up there, unless there's a dealer closer. I'm not familiar with the Russellville area.
