Gas tank width?

Gas tank width?
Can some one please tell me how much wider the Wide Glide tanks are than the Low Riders. I have the 4.09 gallon tank on my Low Rider. If I was to install a 5 gallon tank off the correct year Wide Glide, how much fatter would it be?

I'm not sure about your wide glide but I got some aftermarket 5 galllons to replace the stock 4.2's on my '95 FLSTC. I didn't measure them but they only seemed like they were about 3 inches wider. All I can really tell you is that they look right on the bike. The 4.2's always looked a little small to me.

Thanks guys. I am just starting to feel the need for more fuel since the wife and me have been taking so many long trips. I put 5 gallon flatsides from a Softail on my Shovel, but the Shovel's frame tube is half the width of the Dyna's. I'm not sure that even with the universal mounting kit that they would fit my frame so I was thinking about putting a Wide Glide tank and console on for that extra gallon.
