Question Oil Lines

I have an 1989 FXR ( and I love it ) which I am presently rebuilding. My problem is the Oil Lines. The original ones are old and not very flexible, and I would like to replace them. Where can I get the OEM type(molded) oil lines, or as an alternative, are there oil lines that can be molded to hold a shape by heating ? I have not been able to find a way to route bulk oil lines in a manner that looks good. Any suggestions ? I'd hate to re-use the 23 year old lines.

My buddy used metal tubing with rubber connectors on each end to make some bends he needed. Looks pretty good also.

I would not reuse the old ones. They are about shot by now.

I redid all mine in Russell brand stainless braided hose. To cut them I suggest getting a cable cutter tool from HF, and not the little one either. They will fit over a regular hose barb. The stuff is quite difficult to work with, but they are some kind of tough.

My dealer here in Reno NV says they are not available. I would have no issues with paying 90 to $100 for all the oem oil lines....So....If anyone out there knows of a dealer that has them, PLEASE let me know and I will contact and make whatever arrangements have to be made.
Thank you

On my 1990 bike I have universal reinforced rubber oil/fuel hoses, available off a roll at any decent auto parts store. Cheap and readily available.

Write down where it all goes to or take a pic or 2 b4 you pull the old lines off.
Nothing worse than not being sure if that line goes where?

Two things, first have your dealer do a search. Secondly get the Harley touring map book in there is a list on each state map of the dealers in that state. Start calling the closest ones first and work your way out. Lots of dealers have discontinued parts that are not on the computer, we've found lot's of discontinued parts that way. Hope this helps.

This did in fact help. Reno said not available. Carson City H.D. ( 30 miles away) was able to find all but the breather line. They seem to want to help the customer. Thanks for the suggestion. I figured that they all hooked up to the same network. Didn't realize that there's a " do I care" factor involved.

Actually HD in their infinite wisdom has two systems. For some reason a while back they came out with a new and improved system and a lot of dealers upgraded to it, while some did not, the two systems can not communicate with each other. Another example of better living through electronics!!!! Glad it worked out.
