Default Exhaust question

Looking for shark tail slip-ons for my 89 flhs. I found a set for 171 at v twin manufacturing, but it says it's for flt touring models. Now from what I read, there is not much difference between the flhs and the flt but some extra goodies. Would the flt slip-ons work with my bike?

Depends on the flange between the pipe and the muffler. If you have the newer style, it should be just fine. If you have the older style with the bead, you can probably make it work, but it will take some modifying.

I have a 2008 FLHTC-E-I-E-I-OHHHHH complete exhaust system on my bike. Fit perfect.

I have the one with the bead, kinda looks like a ring where it seats into the head pipe. But accordin to the pic it has the bead as well

It should fit. Besides the part where they meet the front pipe piece, they are all the same. That is, yours bolts up under the saddle bag, right? They all should work then, besides the flange part. And people with the older bead style couplers have put later model mufflers on by cutting the bead thing off the head pipe and then just slipping the muffler over and putting the clamp on.

Be real sure to inspect your crossover pipe up under the cover. If it's cracked, replace or repair it. Mine cost me a dropped exhaust valve guide and a day and a half on the road. That's why I have the new pipes on now.
