Another Early Batwing Question
So, I've posted a couple of things here and there. Thank you Graham for your assistance.
I'm trying to ID these fairing brackets. I bought an early batwing off craigslist. It was in a shop for sale. They didn't really know what it came off of. All the Shovel-era brkts I've seen have the L-shaped tabs. These seem to be intergrated into the the brackets themselves. I'm thinking this is maybe early 90's FLHS issue (the factory add-on?) Or Police??
I had bought this to install on my 2000 Heritage. These brackets don't really align with my set-up. I bought a set of the earlier Softail side brkts with the extra holes. They still don't line up. Using either of the bolt holes, (The Lwrs are closer) it still doesn't line up (height in relation to the headlight etc)
I can use those brackets and windscreen from that place in Canada, but that'll put me over 5 bills in this. I may as well get a non radio Hoppe or one of those.
I do kind of like the idea of using a "factory" piece on there, even if it is in no way made for a Heritage.
So, sorry about the short novel. I'd sure appreciate any help in ID'ing these brackets, and the windsreeen with the angled tabs @ the bottom.

It is certainly different to the one I have on my FLHS, which as I recall came off a 1983 Glide, with the windshield separate from the batwing itself. I couldn't make my brackets work easily, so cheated by getting my brother to make up a set from scratch!

The two long funny shaped ones in your first pic bolt to the inside of the faring at the studs shown in your last picture. The bracket in your second picture goes between the two brackets in the first one.
Note that the whole set up is not "factory add on," but "factory" FLHT. Also, you put it on and take it off by removing the headlight bucket and sticking your hand in to access the nuts on the studs holding the outer faring to the brackets. Before gear wrenches, this was a colossal PITA. Also, that metal strip across the bottom of the windshield is not OEM, at least not on my bike. If you're going to run this without an inner faring, then you would probably use that on the inside of the windshield.

The brackets in the 1st & 2nd picture are the same.
Just different angles. If I just set these brackets in
place, mounted loosely to the fairing, the fairing is not
in the right place on the bike, in relation to the headlamp
etc. I think if I had the older shovel style they'd work.
So this may go in the attic for awhile. I may look for earlier brackets.
I may buy those from RNR in Canada (I assume the fairing shell
is the same, stud location etc)

It looks like the first pics brackets bolt to the side of the headlight nacelle and the fairing, kinda like the windshield does. At least that what it looks like to me.

placement? I'm going to take mine apart (running lights
etc) and try to mount it up drilling holes in the side brkts
I bought off ebay (99 & prior Heritage style with the extra
hole). If, it's a no-go, I might just bite the bullet next month
and order that kit from Canada. Then, it's a slam dunk- with
a new windscreen AND it will fit Mama's 03 Heritage too.
I was thinkin about a non-stereo Hoppe or something, but
I want the factory piece on there (if poss)

I've had both the shovel (shudder) and this one, and I'm going with "not the same." The basic shape is the same, but the mounting points are going to be different, I think.
I would suggest you take the brackets that mount to that outer faring, attach them to the faring, then make some new pieces to connect the brackets (or parts of them) to your bike. Weld it up, paint it black, done. If you were over here, I'd say bring me some Becks and I'd knock it out for you.
