92 fxdc. I searched but could not find anything specific for my year of bike. Just got the bike only filled it up 2 times. Is a a 5.1 gallon? Also when does the reserve kick in? Just figured out i get about 43 miles to the gallon. And im just wanting to know about how many miles i can go between fill ups. Thanks
Ya i guess hitting the reserve is the only way to know for sure
Don't try that on a long ride, where you don't know where your next gas stop is! You really have to find where the reserve is for your own bike, as they are not consistent. Very roughly you should find you have around a gallon in reserve.
My old Sporty had 5 gallon Fatbobs on it and although I got 47 mpg the reserve would only get me 12 miles. So it also depends on how the tanks are mounted, level to the ground or to flow with the frame.
If you really want to see how far your reserve will get you carry a gallon of gas with you so that when you run out you can still get to a gas station.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner...Johnny tell him what he's won...lol
It's nice to know, but like I tell the better half, when you get below 1/4 fill up, why worry. I used to live in Wyoming, had a 20 gal seat tank and a 35 gal saddle tank on my pick up. Worst you can do is run outta gas 50 miles from the next station. Be safe before being sorry, why play it so close to the edge???jmho. If you're between slim and none, fill up when you can and forget about mpg.
