Default '98 FXSTC Rear Wheel, Tire, & Drive Belt Question

I recently did an over-haul on my sled, motor work, paint, fr. wheel,etc... Im looking to finish it off with the same style wheel on the back, a fat spoke. So I ordered the rear wheel without doing much homework, it's a 16"x 3.5" wich is a 1/2" wider than stock. Im looking to replace the belt and pulley as well, with a 1&1/8". I hear lots of guys being able to squeeze a 150 under the stock fender, my main question is will the wider wheel 3.5" as compared to the stock 3" cause any problems? I have found a few threads about tires but not much about a wider wheel.... Any help or pointers are greatly appreciated!

the only problem you might encounter is the 1 1/8 pulley hitting the swingarm

i have a 3.5 X 18 with a 150 in my 91, and i had to shave down the pulley where it bolts to the hub about 3/8 of an inch to make things square

hope this helps

It shouldn't be a problem at all. I just mounted a 16" x 3.5" King Spoke on my ride with the stock tire size and it all went together just fine. And that's using the stock 1.5" belt.

I have a 150 and narrow belt in my 1990 Glide. I tried to get the tyre in with my wide belt, but they wouldn't fit together, I just ran out of room! Your wider rim may increase the fitted width of the tyre a little, over the width if it was on a stock wheel, but not enough to be worried about IMHO.

The later spec narrow belt has a larger diameter hole in the centre, to fit round the larger sealed wheel bearings, but the hole pattern for the fixing bolts is the same. It also stands off the hub further than the wide pulley, but will otherwise be fine.
