Default Bag Info

I dont know if anyone knows this, but the saddlebag lid rubber seals from the late model bikes is exactly the same as the the part number for the earlies, and cheaper. I also just replaced the locks on both bags with cabinet locks from home depot at $4.89 per lock. You have to modify the lock hook by enlarging the square hole for the new locks. You can get them keyed alike by matching the key number codes printed on the front of the package. There were 5 different codes available when I bought mine. A good alternate to our un available lock sets if you need to replace them. My bike came with no key for one bag, no lock in the other, and a horrible universal foam seal job that made the bags rattle louder than the engine.

Now the bags are quiet and secure. happy camper

Good to know. I have to change locks and I'm sure I'll need the gasket eventually if not now. I haven't looked at them.
What about the round gaskets on the mounting holes? Got any useful info on those? I need 2 of them.

I replaced the bag foam with stuff from Mcmaster.com. Add a little automotive weatherstripping glue and it works great.

Both bag seal at HD were $24.00, I havent made the lock gaskets yet, but I thinkin bicycle tire innertube.....the cheapest you can find, cause they will be real thin.

Got the same locks for mine yesterday and other than opening the square hole with a file and the flats in the lid, just a tiny bit, they are a perfect match.
I used these washers for the mounting pads. I glued them with tire patch cement. They after all, rubber. Anyway, works like a charm.

Doing same with my 1990 boxes including paint etc.
IDEA !... bought a sheet of foam rubber $ 5.00 and will cut to fit . Or ...
how about marine grade rope . Get the stuff that is proper size and give it a go .
Went for the cheap foam myself but the above should work fine .
