Default Spark plug issue? help pls.

"86" 883 w/ 28k miles. Newly installed top end gasket kit, intake manifold seal, main jet, cam timing sensor, s&s "e" carb, and much more. All done by dealer. Its my first bike/love and refuse to give up on her but she keeps fouling out my plugs within first couple of miles. Took it in originally for coughing when coasting around corners and when I needed a quick passing speed. Now I can't ride it at all. Any suggestions? The dealer says its me. I say he's nuts. I've had a Fat Boy for 4 yrs and no problems.

I am auto tech and it sounds like your running rich but I have seen week coils do the same thing. get an adjustable spark tester and make sure you have a good spark at the plug. if your spark is ok then check your float adjustment and make sure it is not to high.

Thx. I'll ck the float. It has good spark. Dealer dropped a $5k bill on me for repairs. They didn't have my signature on any ro except a new carb. I'm kinda leary to ride the bike after they ate the bill. Afraid to take it back even for a service when its due. Time to get my manual out and my feminine hands greasy.

How long do you keep the choke on when you start it? I try to get the bike off choke in 10 seconds or thereabouts. Warming up all the way with the choke (enrichener) on can foul plugs.

Maybe some s&s guys can chime in here, but I understand the e is one of the smaller carbs, but wouldn't it be large for even a 883 ?

I have fouled a few plugs this way. You could also try resetting the carb.

It could be your jets are too big or the fuel/air mixture screw is set wrong.
