Did same job on my '86 Softie recently and bought a complete top end James gasket set for that year, as I am sure most people do, and no problems with seals or gaskets.

If you bought a set and push rod seals are wrong, just wondering what else might be wrong also?

Correct orings in the correct places does miracles. Also make sure you have the washers in place along with new springs and they'll button rightup. Fat oring up top and skinny one on bottom, put the oring right on the top of tube not in the head.

Well fellas it looks like it ended up by a blockage in my breather tube. After trouble shooting it with an evo tech it came down to that. My breather tube was smashed by 1/2 if not 2/3 and on shutdown would sneeze out oil from the top pushrod cover. So I wholesaled all the o-rings top mid and base and everything seems to have cleared up.

thanks for your help guys preciate it
