Default FLHTC Ignition Switch Availability Problems??

My Ignition switch went out on my 92 Electra Glide Classic while I was on a trip. I was able to loosen the inner fairing enough to hot wire it and get home but now I'm having a major problem finding a replacement. I've ordered several aftermarket switches that will not fit and the oem part is discontinued from HD. There are a couple used switches floating around on ebay that I may end up having to settle for. Anybody had this similar issue? Any ideas where I can get a replacement? My switch is the tall one in the back of the attached pic

I *think* 71526-93B fits 93-02 models and will work with some wiring changes (plug). Worth checking out.

Thanks......I've wondered about this. There are quiet a few used 93-02 switches available on eBay and their a lot cheaper. Any body tried this part on a.92 or older bike? I can't think of a way to find this info other than here or just taking a chance buying one.

While I had my '94 Classic apart this winter, I remembered there was a recall on the ignition switch. The original dealer had been back ordered so it was never installed. I had issues shortly after and never returned to the dealer. I contacted my current dealer I use and was told the recall never expires but I would need to have them install the new switch. I didn't want to assemble the front end with fresh paint to have them tear it down just to install a new switch. It was already exposed. I took the switch to the dealer and they gave me a new replacement and it took 10 minutes to get it put in. They had several of the replacement switches in stock and if I needed to purchase one it would have been $45. You might check to see if yours has a recall out on it. Not sure but I think the safety recall was for a fire issue.
