Replace Ignition Switch
I figured that they were plastic pieces of junk, but for $30 I may just take a chance and buy one. My question is, has anyone used one of these aftermarket ignition switches, that are about 1/3 of the cost of the OEM ignition switch? If so, what is your opinion of it?
Thanks
I'd ask your local Indy shop to recommend and price out a switch from Drag or whoever they use.
Know ing that if it is crap, they will hear about it- they will likely suggest a product they know is fine.
BTW harley parts from zanotti are alway 20% off

I've no idea where the MOCO ignition switches are manufactured but I wouldn't bet my last dollar you wouldn't be shelling out a hundred bucks for the same or similar $30 dollar switch that's also sourced offshore.
Here's the one you probably need for a 2004 if your OEM part number is 71313-96A.

A guy I know claims to know how to fix repair Harleys, so
I ask him to replace the rear tire on my 2003 Harley Low Rider. I buy the tire and give him the bike. I figure it
will cost me a $100 bucks to put the new tire on. I don't have a bike lift and didn't want to
pay a dealer $175 to do it, I figure I would pay him instead.
Well he replaces the tire but then he tells me the throttle cables need to be replaced and
I am like ok they did seem rough so ok. So he fixes the cables.
But wait then he tells me the ignition switch is busted, mind you I never had a problem with it but what do I know about bikes. So two weeks go
by and he replaces the ignition switch.
Great but wait! He then tells me the module for turn signals
is busted! Now I don't remember a problem with turn signals but ok.
Now 7 weeks has gone by and yesterday finally he says the bike is ready.
Great. I went to pick up the bike and now the bike won't start cause he ordered the wrong module!!? What the heck??
Oh yeah he also gives me a bill for $850.00. Does anyone know what is going on here? He seems like a
nice guy but he clearly didn't know what he was doing yesterday. The module pins were clearly wrong but he didn't see that
when he got the module part. I am just so frustrated. I missed out over of 2 months of riding waiting to get the bike fixed
and now I still don't have the bike and the end is no where in sight and I owe him 850 bucks Any suggestions. Thanks.
