Default possible purchase 03 EG Standard... what do ya think?

Needs a back tire. The engine rattles, or it could be heat shields, I wasn't sure. Maybe that's the way a twin cam sounds.. 2nd owner bike, says he has receipts for services, and that the cam chain tensionors have already been changed. Stage 1 with Thunderheader and it's too loud for me. I guess I could find some stock head pipes with medium sound mufflers and have it retuned. What would that cost? That seems like a waste of money though... but it's too loud for me. No tour pack. no radio. (I'd like to have for occasional use, but not a deal breaker). I went to see it. Cosmetically, it's ok.. probably a 8.5.

He's ready to deal, he says....

(edit)

I bought the Road Glide pictured in my signature. This thread was useful, but has drifted off topic. My thanks for all the contributions.

I'm not entirely sure why you are asking about a twin cam in an evo forum.

If the bike makes you happy go for it.

good point... i've been in the Evo section for so long I forgot other sections existed. Maybe I'll get lucky in Touring with the same solid info I've always received here.

I had a 06 Electra Standard and I loved it. Very solid bike and makes long distances nice. There is a company called Hog Tunes I believe that you can get their kit and mount any Sony radio in it. Their speakers sound better than Harleys do also. My wife loved the comfort of it. I had highway pegs and could stretch out real nice on it and I am 6'4". They are a perfect platform to customize also. If you like it, ride it to a Indy with the owner and get him to give it a once over. They are nice bikes.

[QUOTE=texashillcountry;9704252]I'm not entirely sure why you are asking about a twin cam in an evo forum.

That's precisely why he asked it here.

Default What...no way why?

Don't spend a dime on that rattletrap Till you know what the source is.

Maybe that's the way a twin cam sounds..

Not usually.

2nd owner bike, says he has receipts for services, and that the cam chain tensionors have already been changed. Stage 1 with Thunderheader and it's too loud for me.

Thunder headers are loud...youill change them. You will pay. Address it later.

I guess I could find some stock head pipes with medium sound mufflers and have it retuned. What would that cost?

Depends 500 fo pipes 300 remap n tune correctly

That seems like a waste of money though... but it's too loud for me. No tour pack. no radio.

An Electra should ave the radio..no radio and no tour pack equals a road king with a bat wing...what's the point?

I'd like to have for occasional use, but not a deal breaker). I went to see it. Cosmetically, it's ok.. probably a 8.5.

Looks are everything but don mean **** if its junk, here's my take, it's a ......I wish you lived close I know a killer Electra glide laded with low miles for 7 grand. 9 gs for a rattling Twinkie with no tour pack and no stereo is a shitty deal.

I wouldn't touch this thing. Your gonna end up with a 7-8000 dollar pain in the ***. No evo or Twinkie should be rattling. It's not normal. If you are prepared to spend some extra money to make it right then buy it but m guesses your gonna be using a wheel barrel to go to the dealership with your money in it.

He's ready to deal, he says....

Default Look all of these are near you....

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2975670478.html way better than that Electra your looking at all stripped down....

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2963989993.html. Nice Twinkie

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcd/2975335221.html not an evo but has all it should

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2975299450.html again same as a stripped down Electra

This one has a bat wing. http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2974511547.html

If your willing to settle for a Electra with no stereo and no tour pack you might just as well start entertaining the RK.....same bike different options......this has the fairing and everything.
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/2965070161.html nice tour glide.

Lots of cool choices....I think all of the guys here including me understand your shopping, we would love to see u get an evo, but if you see a good deal on a TC and it fits the bill then consider it.....we ain't hating.

My thing is, don't settle for half an Electra glide standard with no stereo etc, for that kind of money even if you get him down to 7 gs it's still too much and the rattling thing scares me bad.

Just looking out for ya bro.
