Default Changed Fork Oil Now What

Well, The front of my bike a 94' Heritage is very soft and seems to dive to much when braking. I can set on the bike hold the front brake and pretty much bottom the front forks out. I changed the fork oil in it today and that did nothing. Whats the next thing to check? The damper tubes is my guess but not sure how hard they are to get to and how far the front end has to come apart? I'm not afraid to work on it just wanting to get an idea of what I'm getting into. And I do have a HD service manual. Any ideas?

Do you know if anyone changed the springs in your forks?
I think you will have to rebuild the forks.

Your fork springs are shot...

They are not expensive. An easy do it yourself project.

Springs are factory but the front end was rebuilt two years ago when the chrome front end was put on. Springs should be an easy fix then.

I'll recommend what I've done-
Racetech (or other) straight rate springs for YOUR weight
+ Ricor Intimidators with Fabrik8r mods and Amsoil 5W.

The springs alone, with some heavier oil, will improve the ride.
But the Ricors really control the wheel travel, brake dive and change the ride.
I had mine modified by Fab to work way better than stock Ricors.

There are other more expensive options, but I'm liking my front end now.

Is it just the fl's that have the air valve on the handlebar?

A new pair of fork springs will make a big difference if the forks bottom out easily.

Do be aware that this is not difficult to do, but you need a manual, and you should replace the seals and bushing if they were not done before. Also, you really should have access to a pneumatic impact wrench.
