Default Decel whine

Getting a decel whine after a rebuild, comes from the right hand side of the bike or seems like it.
When I pull in the clutch it goes away, It can't be the cam chest gears as I specked them all. The engine has run in and freed up way better than I'd hoped but I got this decel whine.
It's not that bad but it's bugging me.
Mr Mia Cycles what ya reckon?
Got a brand new belt drive, how hard is ten pounds pressure it could be too tight here.
Cheers guys.

Whining on deceleration is usually tranny or sometimes primary related. Might be too much tension on your new belt drive. . .

Yea but it sounds like it's the right side of the bike.
The tranny was rebuilt not long b4 the motor rebuild and it's got really clear clean oil in it ,so I don't think it's a meshing problem on decel as the oil would be tainted (I think).
Might back off the belt tension and see how that goes.

Not saying that the sound isn't coming from the right side but the primary and the transmission are excellent sound carriers and act like big megaphones. It's really easy to "hear" the sound coming from one side of the bike when it's actually generated on the opposite side. This might not be the case for you but it can make it really hard to pinpoint where something is coming from just by the location of the sound.

No you're right, that big old inner primary has in the past sent suspicious noises to the other side of my bikes.
I like to run an exposed belt but haven't swapped out yet.
i've backed the belt out a little to see.
will know more soon.
Cheers.

Yo i tightened up the primary chain and loosened off the drive belt and most of the noise is gone.
Some of the noise is an induction noise through the carb on decel, so now it's all good.
Cheers.
