Looks great. I like the natural motor and the black horn. Excellent contrast.

Actually the horn is chrome, its just a weird lighting reflection in that pic. I like the idea though...

I liked the contrast idea also, so I did the jugs in satin black on mine.

There she sits; All back together, shined up, fueled up and ready to fire up for the first time on the new engine as soon as my soon-to-be wifey gets home from work. I primed the oil pump already and the best part is that I have NO LEFTOVER PARTS except some old pieces that got replaced. I will report back in a little while how it turns out. Everyone PLEASE keep your fingers crossed for me! LOL!

I'm sure it will fire up just fine. Glad to see you got it all back together in time for the big day. Congrats!

The wifey-to-be came home and together we went to the garage. With one of us on each side of the bike; me on the right holding the throttle and right controls, her on the left holding the clutch, I turned on the fuel, pulled up the choke, twisted the throttle a couple times to get fuel to the carb, switched on the ignition and pushed the starter button...

I don't think it even did a full revolution before it roared to life. The remanned engine combined with the new twinkie take off exhaust gave a very pleasant end result. This thing super smooth, not too loud, yet still rumbly like a Harley should be. I quickly noticed that I had the oil pressure sending unit wired backwards, so before it got too hot, I swapped the wires around so I could keep an eye on the oil gauge. Nothing leaks, the charging system is charging like it should and the timing seems to be really close. I was afraid it might run rich since I lost the cam with the reman, but the exhaust seems just perfect, no smoke, no eye burning at all, just right.

I ran it through a heat cycle on the stand with a fan blowing across the engine, probably a good 10 minutes or so, then shut it down for the night. Towards the end of the ten minutes, the engine seemed to idle up a little bit, from 1000rpm up to about 1500 or so. Not sure why. After the first 50 mile break in run tomorrow, I plan to take it to the shop and have them double check the timing and carb settings.

I am SO happy right now! I can't wait to get back on it!

I got the job done faster than the first shop quoted me for roughly $1200 less than they were trying to gouge me for to boot. Feels good...
