Got a ticket today
Took a 240 mile ride today most of it in very twisty roads. The Sierra Nevada Mountains are the best, HWY 70,. Any way I come around a turn to a straight and a long the straight I pass a CHP. Look down at the speedo and it's at 65, so I figure I'm going 60-61 tops as it reads High. Don't think much of it until 5 or so minutes later CHP with red lights on pulls me over. Says I'm writing you a citation for excessive speed. I say how can I talk you out of this, reply was you can't my mind is made up. I said exactly what did I do. He says you where doing 66 in a 55 when you saw me and you didn't slow down at all. I said that's because I thought I was within the speed limit. Long story short he gave me a citation and tells me next time you see a CHP slow down. I say just being honest here and figured I wasn't in the wrong. He then tells me to have a nice day. I told him he had already screwed that up. So then he takes off, after a few minutes getting my helmet and ----- together I take off. Couple miles up the road he setting there waiting for me again, however I'm going 45 with five cars stacked up behind me and give him a big wave. I know he wanted to flip me off
The moral of this tale is twofold....one, never believe it when you think your speedo reads fast....two, when it says 55, don't ride at 60 unless you like collecting tickets.
I once had a CHP follow me for 5 miles on a feeder with me on the interstate before I did something "wrong" and he could jump on the interstate and give me a ticket. He actually told me "I've been following you for 5 miles." That was in the 80's before they had RADAR.
I had a similar conversation with my teenage son this past weekend. He got a ticket for doing 35 in a 30. He was all fired up. I told him, "Tyler, you are a 17 year old "punk" kid in the cops eyes. I'm sure you were driving through the neighborhood with your music cranked, making yourself a target." Unfortunately on motorcycles we are a target in some officers eyes. He was either jealous that you were out riding when he couldn't or has a "hard-on" for bikers.
A cop pulled me over for speeding once but didn't give me a ticket for it as he said that 'Speeding motorcyclists are a self correcting problem'. He did give me a ticket for the inspection sticker that was 1.5 years out of date.

I got stopped in my Corolla yesterday afternoon on the way home from work, for turning right at a light without using a turn signal. My Corolla is a bit loud, a bit old, a bit beat up and a bit fast. I think he was just trying to stop a "punk" kid to harass.
"trying to catch me ridin dirty"
"They see me rollin', they hatin'."
