Default Cleaning the ignition switch?

Anyone ever heard of cleaning an ignition switch to get it functioning again?

I took a look at mine last night, and it seems to me, there's not too much that can go wrong with them.

Go to an electronics store and get some contact cleaner. Make sure to use it in a well ventilated area.

I cleaned the one on mine and it works fine now. Pretty simple.

You can scrape the crud off the contacts and that will work.

I've cleaned mine with electrical contact cleaner in the past, worked fine...if it is really bad you could probably use emory paper to scrape the connectors clean...

Once I had to replace the switch because one of the rivets holding down a conductor connection was loose and you could see where it blackened pretty bad due to heating from the poor electrical connection.

Thanks guys. I bit the bullet and paid the $107 for a new one.

I am going to try to clean this one and keep it for a spare.

Spare parts are never a bad thing.
