hummm, well, there ya go. School is back in session. I just have a hard time putting paint on without some kind of adhesion promoter for the bare aluminum if you know what I mean. I'd like to have it last more than a year or so.........come on guys, jump in here.Anybody else have any experience with painted engines.

yes i found the best to use is POR-15 black velvet----you can spray it and or brush it on!! 1200 degree hold and works great i love this stuff--dries to the touch in a day and cures when your riding for at least a half of an hour!!! a pint is like 30 bucks on ebay, and if you spray it you have to thin it a bit but it will do 2 bike engines and you'll have some left over to do touch ups and missed spots---hope this helps!!! o-yeah goes over bare aluminum-metal-steel without some kind off primer!!!

Do your research b4 using por15. If you screw up there is no turning back. it is mostly used for auto frames. There is no solvent to take it off. Get it on your skin/body or handsand it stays until you get new skin.

Mess up on your bike and it stays until you get a new bike.

I use high temp engine and exhaust paint good to 1200 degrees.
What is the best way to get all the old ,peeling paint off the heads and especially the jugs.

heads and jugs are off. I am trying to get the paint off the fins. The old paint is blistering real bad.

i only use por-15 and i dont have issues at all with it!! i get it on my hands all the time-- i just go wash it then and its off---so unless you dont tape it off or you dump it on, you wont have a problem!!!!
