Default 160 tire attempt......fail!

Tried the 07 swingarm, duece wheel, 1 1/8" belt, 160 tire thing on my 95 Ultra. So close to fitting, but the tire rubs the fender on one side. Clears in the center of the fender near the shock mounts where I can spread it a little with the shock mount bolts, but where the bag supports are......it rubs. I will need to fold in the rolled edge of the fender (and ruin my fresh paint) or pull it apart and try a 150 tire. The story.........

Base gaskets were leaking, so I decided to take care of that problem while I was at it.

07 swingarm, brake caliper, axle, derlin bushings......

03 (I think) Duece wheel with 3/4" bearings. Had the hub machined out to 1.25". New spacer 1" ID X 1.25" OD made.

Decided to take the plasma cutter to my rear fender. (I didn't like the long flared fender). Trimmed the front too.

The rest....

Had to machine 3/32" off the mounting surface of the pulley to keep it from rubbing on the swingarm.

I got the 150 under mine and was seriously close on the sides of the fender, hasn't never rubbed but man was it alot of work, the stock belt also cleared. Good luck, I'm gritting my teeth for ya!

I'm in the middle of working my Deuce wheel into my bike, with a nice shiney new Avon Storm 160/70. I have spacers either side of the fender, where the shocks fit, which gives me a little extra width I can use, by stretching the fender.

As for the slight rubbing, check your alignment. The slightest adjustment of your stabilizers may tune that problem out. I acknowledge things are tight in there, but it is too early to say I have a working solution! I am also working on a central battery, so the two are progressing together.

Its a simple fix but hard work. You have to get an 06 and up fender and have the frame rails spread to fit....also requires fender strut covers to be modified.

I use a blacksmith to heat and spread the rails, my mate welds metal onto the outside of the struts and and then grinds away the inside until he has the correct profile.

We fit 170 tyres/wheels from Deuces onto Dynas this way but why would you?.....stuffs up the handling if you ask me....

I have an 08 fender and it is the same width as my 1990, at 7"! I bought it on Ebay, expecting it to be wider, having read that somewhere, probably here on HDF. This is work in progress (I'm waiting for a 1" bearing kit, so I can bolt my Deuce wheel in place), so I haven't proved my approach yet, which is simply removing spacers either side of the fender and stretching it, to improve clearance.

We used a wideglide fender and it was way wider, we bent the rails to suit the fender....

I don't think I want to go that far. I did something similiar on a 04 Sporty to fit a 200 tire on it. It wasn't nearly as involved as it would be on the Ultra though.
I think GR is on the right track. Spreading the fender (no spacers) worked for me in the middle of the fender. I'm going to try his suggestion of tweaking the stabilizers to tune out the slight rub I'm getting on one side near the bag supports. I'l post up how that works out as soon as I get some time to try it.

Ok.....finally got it finished. Ended up cutting about four inches of the folded seam off the inside of the fender where it was rubbing. Got about 150 miles on it with no issues.....so far. Trying out a RK seat right now, I've got a Badlander I'll try next. I'm probably going to black out the duece rear wheel (over the winter). Some pics.
