Folks - The FXRT saddlebag latches look REAL similar to the FLT Tour Pak latches. Are there any significant differences between the two?
I need a latch for one of my saddlebags - and I'm a bit too cheap to pay "eBay FXR Elvis's" prices of $200 a pair for 'em, if $35 tour pak latches will work.
What say those who know more than I do about this?
If you are talking about the latches that hold the Tour Pak top, and the "Clam Shell" saddlebag closed, they are the same part number. Now you can buy the individual parts for the entire latch, or you can go to the local Harley dealer and buy a latch kit (90681-95). I have a kit just for a "Just in Case" I need one.
Now the latches changed in 1995. The difference is how the latch secures to the top catch. The screw mounting holes are the same. But the bottom latch will not fit the top catch. If you change the bottom, you must change the top too. Just make sure it is a "-95" part number.

The high dollar obsolete latches that "Elvis" is selling, have locks in the latches...the $35 tour pak latches do not........

THANKS!!! I am resurrecting a 1984 FXRT - and one of my clam-shell saddlebags is missing most of its latch. It looks a lot like the Tour Pak latches, I appreciate the part # and your confirmation! Off to eBay!
No need to go to Ebay. Just do what the Klingon said. I got one of the latch kits from the dealer just a few weeks ago. He had it in stock for about $13. Part # 90681-95 will give you both pieces of the exterior latch assembly, the interior backing plate and the screws.
