That would do it....scratches are OK if they are not on the sealing lip....but sounds like yours were....sucks when the shop gets it wrong :-(

Well still chasing the leak. It has gotten much better but on long rides it is apparent its not staying oil tight. I found out I had about a 1/2 litre to much tranny oil and after draining it to normal hot oil level I have the feeling that may have buggered up the maingear small seal. I ride the bike out onto the hiway and get it good and warm, bring it home and put it on the jack and I can see the red fluid coming from up high in the area of the mainshaf and migrating through the mainshaft small seal, if it was coming from big tranny housing seal it would be coming on the other side of pulley and not down the inner primary side. I have the old case repaired and although I'm getting to be a pro at R&Ring the inner primary I'm getting tired of it. I have a full dose of frustration going on and I'm not sure if I should just return to my old tranny case and gearset which were working flawless or try changing the mainshaft small seal?

If you mean the inner bearing primary seal.....you should change them every time you remove the inner primary...also when you are in there this time do the gear change shaft seal and the starter shaft seal if you didn't do them last time.

I did change the inner primary cover seal as well as the gearchange shaft seal and starter shaft seal. I mean the seal inside of the main gear some times called the 5th gear, there's also the 2 needle bearings in there. Now that I think of it the guy that messed up by putting 2 quad seals instead of the single also installed the main gear small seal and I remember him saying he was leaving the old one in and installing the new one as an extra, why oh why do I let these guys in my shop?

Forget it I did some measuring and
12013a is smaller outside diameter which may be
The cause of why the other seal leaked.

Good man! Never take the advice of people when you can measure it yourself ;-)

Well it's all back together except for primary cover , could have used the old one but it was looking a bit too worn so tomorrow I'll get a new one and button it up for good I hope.
