Bertha goes in for the switch recall this Friday........I'm hoping the dealership doesn't "ding her up" working on her.
Do ya think I should remove some of the blingy parts and the shield (they're gonna have to come off for the repair anyway) to keep them form getting dinged/scratched?

YES! Take anything off those gorillas can scratch, dent or ding. I have some super **** friends who actually take pictures of their bikes while waiting for service to write them up, them email the pictures to the dealer as right when they get home. That way if there is an issue with scratches or dents, its a no brainer. To me thats over board by light years, but Bertha is one bad a$$ machine, and at her current age, they will deny everything...... and you know it. So don't even give them the chance to mes up all that chrome, take it off.
Good sugestions the guys made, why let the opportunity for something bad to happen happen. Personally I don't let anyone work on my bike but in your case it doesn't sound like yo have a choice.
Your scooter is 17 years old and they're just now getting around to a recall? Yikes.
I would remove the windshield, driver's backrest, and tourpak, partly to eliminate potential damage and partly to eliminate sticky fingers.
Is that a Mustang seat? My driver's backrest pushes me way too far forward even after bending the mounting bar a bunch.

Actually, It's ME just getting around to the recall. The ignition switch went bad (found out what is was by asking HERE!) and when I registered on the HD website, the recall was there.
I also learned that recalls are FOREVER, especially when it involves a safey issue.
Yep, It's a Mustang seat. I actually have to lean back to hit the backrest on mine. Mine has a "factory" bend in the bar. Soooo comfortable.

Thanks for the complement! I often come out of a gas station or whatever to find someone staring at her.
Votes are in! I'm gonna strip her down...............
