EV27 every time and I am not a fan of adjustable pushrods but as mentioned earlier by another poster....make sure its not just crappy fuel but you're at the right mileage to be doing cam bearing and lifters as a maintenance thang anyway.

Ok. You can let the newb comments begin. I took it to the dealership today, mechanic took it for a test drive and couldnt put his finger on it right away, brought it back did a compression check, it was good took whatever off to look at the cam and took some cover off to look at the pushrods and everything was in A+ shape, he said it looked as if the cam was replaced recently so he is assuming the bearing was done as well. took it back out for another test drive and found that the brake pedal nylon nut was a hair loose, he tightened it up and greased the zerk fitting no more rattling. I feel foolish and a little lighter in the wallet but now I have peace of mind knowing everything is ok. I greatly appreciate all the input and help you all have shown here.

Now that was an odd fix. Glad your bike is fixed.

Peace of mind is worth a lot.

I swear it sounded just like a pushrod or lifter going bad. It sounded just like that when one went bad in my old cougar. Ive had the bike for approx 3 weeks and it runs like a champ just had the ticking noise under load and I was sure it was a lifter...

I had a jingling that I swore was a wrist pin clip that came loose. Turned out to be loose spark plug/head bolt covers. It's funny the way sounds transmit on these bikes.
Heck with the newbie jokes, I'm glad you got it fixed for very little. Everyone should be so lucky.

The factory manual is the best one to buy.

+1 my father bought the service manual together with the bike in October 1992. The book it's still alive and kicking with me since I took the bike torch. Very handy.

I remember him having breakfast, reading it and taking notes, now the story repeats itself, and he loves to see his bike well treated.
