Flushing Brake lines
Winter's round the corner & would like to flush out calipers & lines. I know moisture use to build up in the slave cylinder of my shovel, & make a mess. Been two yrs since I replaced brake lines & caliper's on my Lowrider, & would really like to flush them out & put fresh fluid's in. Any one have recomendation's of cleaner I can safely flush through my system? I bought a Mityvac when I installed brake's, so getting the fluid's through won't be a problem. Ride safe,

If its dot 5 it doesn't absorb moisture but its a good idea to change your fluid every coupla years.....just flush it through by bleeding it throughly until what comes out is nice and clean.
I use a syringe to suck any crud out of the master cylinder resevoir before changing the fluid this way.

It is dot 5. Had dot 3 in the shovel, & every couple of yrs , it got real nasty. Disc brakes on 2 wheel's are new to me & lovin it! figured puttin anything through the system, besides brake fluid, might be a bad idea. Had to ask.

No need to flush it unless you believe the fluid has some real contamination in it. I use an old turkey baster to suck most of the old fluid out of the reservoir. I fill the reservoir with new fluid then simply bleed the brakes until I see new fluid coming out the bleeder screw. Check the reservoir level occasionally to make sure you don't run it dry while you're bleeding the calipers.
I do this to both brakes once a year, which I'm sure is overkill.
