New Mirrors, less Eagles
I just got done installing my new mirrors. The ones that came on my bike had the chrome/gold Eagle Live-To-Ride ones on really short stems. Not only am I not particularly fond of the Eagle logos, they don't really fit my style plus the mirrors were so short, I had trouble seeing around myself in them.
After searching around, measuring and thinking about it, I came up with something I don't remember seeing many of, especially on a big bagger. Here's some pics:
Old ones:

New ones:

The faces of the mirrors seem slightly smaller on the new ones, but the arms are longer which lets me see all the way around my arms and shoulders. The old ones almost seem to have a slight magnification factor to them, so even though the new ones are smaller, they have a much larger field of view to them.
The new ones are not DOT approved and I couldn't figure out why. After having them in hand and installing them, I suspect it has to do with the fact that the glass isn't perfectly "optically correct", there are minor ripples in the field of view. Since they will be vibrating anyway, I don't see where that will make much of a difference.
I did have to grind a little groove in the base of the right stem(at the elbow, LOL!) to clear the front brake reservoir, but otherwise the installation was an easy bolt-on.
I will add to this after riding with them and tell you all how they did. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to show them off a little! LOL!

I stuck them in the bubble wrap from the new ones and put them in the box the new ones came out of. Thanks. I like them a lot better. Much better visibility now that I can see around myself!
PM sent.
After putting a few miles on with the new mirrors I can say that I like them better. Vibration doesn't seem to affect them much and the reach of the stem is perfect. Maybe next up I should get those skeleton finger levers, maybe find a skeleton foot jiffy stand... LOL!

I saw that one before. Only problem to me is that it's not a bagger! LOL! Plus it looks like it might give an awfully "boney" ride! LOL!

I really like the boney look though, it is original.
